Terms of service
Version 4.1 · in effect from
MapleCrew is a marketplace connecting customers with independent service providers. These terms explain account responsibilities, booking rules, pricing, cancellations, and how concerns are handled.
1. About MapleCrew
MapleCrew is a Canadian marketplace that connects customers with verified, independent local providers across Ontario. Providers are independent professionals, not employees of MapleCrew. By creating an account or booking a service, you agree to these terms.
2. Bookings and payments
A provider sets their base rate, and MapleCrew applies a service fee to form the customer-facing price before tax. HST (13%) is then itemised in the booking breakdown. Hourly bookings are charged in stages; per-car bookings are charged in full when placed. Provider payment is handled separately.
3. Cancellations and refunds
You can cancel a booking free of charge up to 24 hours before its scheduled start — or up to 4 hours before for car detailing. Approved full or partial refunds are initiated to the original payment method; the card issuer controls when they appear. Cancelling later than the cutoff for your service may retain up to one booked service hour, or for car detailing up to half of one booked car's service price, under the cancellation policy.
4. Verification of providers
Every provider passes a government photo identity check before they can accept a single job, verified automatically through Stripe Identity, our identity verification provider.
Regulated trades
Plumbing and electrical work is regulated in Ontario. A provider offering either must additionally hold a valid provincial trade licence, which we review by hand before approving them for that work. We do not approve a provider for a regulated trade without a licence on file.
Tax information
Separately from the identity and licence checks above, we ask every provider for tax-identification information — a Social Insurance Number, and a GST/HST registration number if you have one — for MapleCrew's own platform tax records. This is not required to have a GST/HST number: most individual providers do not, and none is requested from anyone who does not have one. See our privacy policy for how this information is protected and who may receive it.
What the badges mean
- Verified — a government photo identity document was verified through Stripe Identity, our identity verification provider.
- Licensed — a valid provincial trade licence was checked by hand for the trade shown.
These are two different claims and we never issue one in place of the other. Neither badge is a guarantee of workmanship, and neither is a statement that the provider carries insurance.
We may suspend or remove a provider at any time, including where a licence lapses, where identity documents expire, or following reports from customers.
5. Booking a job
- You choose a service and answer questions about the job. Your answers determine the estimated duration.
- You add any notes or photos that would help the provider arrive prepared.
- You choose a provider from those who offer that service and are available at your chosen time.
- You submit payment, and the booking request goes to the provider.
- The provider accepts, and the booking is confirmed.
A booking is only formed once the provider accepts. Until then you have made a request, not a contract.
The hourly estimate shown is an estimate, and the final amount depends on the hours actually worked. Car detailing is priced per car and its full total is fixed when the booking is placed.
Your obligations as a customer
- Give the provider safe access to the property at the agreed time.
- Describe the job accurately. A job materially larger than described may take longer, cost more, or be declined on arrival.
- Secure pets, valuables and anything fragile.
- Tell the provider about hazards you know of — faulty wiring, a wasp nest, an unsafe step.
- Do not ask a provider to do work they are not qualified or licensed to do.
6. Prices and payment
The price you agree includes HST and our service fee. Nothing is added at checkout, and our fee is never charged to you as a separate line.
What is charged, and when
For hourly bookings, the customer-facing first-hour amount is charged when the booking is placed and the payment method is saved. When the provider marks the task finished, MapleCrew immediately attempts to charge the remaining balance. Car detailing is priced per car and charged in full when the booking is placed.
Provider payment is separate
Customer confirmation is optional and does not charge the customer or release provider earnings. Provider earnings become eligible for release only after payment succeeds, the booking is completed, the 48-hour customer protection period ends, no unresolved dispute exists, and payout requirements are satisfied.
Full detail of fees, taxes, cancellation charges and refunds is in Fees, payments and cancellation.
Customer confirmation is optional
Confirmation acknowledges completion; it does not trigger payment, release provider earnings, or waive your 48-hour right to report a problem.
7. Cancellation
- Cancelling more than 24 hours before the scheduled start is free, and any captured amount is refunded under the cancellation policy. For car detailing the free-cancellation cutoff is 4 hours before the scheduled start.
- Cancelling inside that cutoff may be charged up to one hour of the booked rate plus HST, as compensation for the time the provider held for you.
- For car detailing, the late-cancellation amount is based on half of one booked car's service price plus HST — one car, however many cars were booked.
- If the provider cancels, you are never charged, whatever the notice period.
- If the provider cannot get access at the agreed time — no answer, no key, a locked gate — that is treated as a late cancellation.
See Fees, payments and cancellation for how this is applied in practice.
8. If something goes wrong with a job
You may report a problem within 48 hours after successful booking completion. Customer confirmation does not shorten or waive this protection period.
- Report the problem from the booking within the 48-hour protection period.
- Write to support@maplecrewservices.com with the booking reference and what happened. Photos help.
- We ask the provider for their account of it.
- We decide an outcome and tell you both the reason.
While a dispute is unresolved, provider payout remains frozen. Possible outcomes include releasing eligible provider earnings, issuing a full or partial refund, or splitting the financial resolution based on the review.
Our decision determines what happens to the money we hold. It does not affect any legal rights you have against the provider directly, and it is not a determination of legal liability between you.
9. Payment protection and disputes
If a job is not completed as agreed, report the problem within 48 hours after successful completion. MapleCrew keeps provider payout frozen while the dispute is unresolved and may resolve the matter with a full refund, partial refund, provider release, or split outcome.
10. Privacy
We collect only the information needed to run the service — your account details, addresses, bookings and messages — and handle it in line with our Privacy policy and Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA). We never sell your personal information.
